Get Sensual in Nature: Discover the Beauty of Your Sit Spot

Do you remember the last time you truly connected with nature? When you allow yourself to slow down and be present in the moment, taking in the beauty around you? In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, often neglecting our connection to the natural world. That’s where having a sit spot comes in.

A sit spot is simply a place where you can sit quietly and pay attention to your surroundings, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of nature. It’s a practice that has been used by people for thousands of years as a way to connect with the natural world and gain insight into oneself. And it’s a practice that we can all benefit from today.

Creating a sit spot at home is easy. Find a place where you can sit comfortably, preferably outside in nature, and where you won’t be disturbed for about 30 minutes. It can be as simple as a chair on your balcony, a place in your garden, or even a patch of grass in your local park. Once you’ve found your spot, take a moment to settle in and begin to tune into your senses.

What do you see around you? Are there any flowers in bloom, birds flying overhead, or insects buzzing about? What do you hear? Can you hear the rustling of leaves in the wind, the chirping of crickets, or the sound of water flowing nearby? Take a moment to fully immerse yourself in your surroundings.

As you sit and observe, you may begin to notice small changes happening around you. Perhaps a bird lands nearby or a butterfly lands on a nearby flower. Or maybe you notice the way the light changes as the sun moves across the sky. These small changes can be a reminder of the beauty and complexity of the natural world, and can help us to slow down and appreciate the present moment.

One of the benefits of having a sit spot is that it allows us to disconnect from the distractions of our daily lives and reconnect with ourselves. It’s a time to be still, to breathe deeply, and to simply be in the moment. And this can be especially important during times of stress, anxiety, or uncertainty.

So, why not give it a try? Find a spot in nature, sit quietly, and allow yourself to become fully present in the moment. And if you have children, invite them along too. It’s a wonderful way to connect with them and with nature at the same time.  And it will get them away from their devices!

As you practice your sit spot, you may find that you begin to feel more relaxed, more centered, and more connected to the natural world around you. You may also begin to develop a deeper sense of gratitude for the beauty that surrounds you every day. So, take a moment to slow down, breathe deeply, and get sensual in nature. Your mind, body, and spirit will thank you for it.
